Amazing facts about Zurich volunteering in 2015
Zurich is committed to making a difference in the communities
of which we are a part. Our Hong Kong colleagues devoted much of
their energy to participate in community services of different kinds
in 2015. We are proud to announce that overall participation
of volunteer work rose to 517 in 2015, a stunning 70%
increase from the previous year. A total of 246 volunteers
contributed 1,912 hours of volunteer work to help the
underprivileged and promote environmental awareness.
Highlights:
- "A Day with Food Angel" in which our volunteers helped
prepare meals from edible surplus food collected from
different sources and distributed them to the
underprivileged communities, both to reduce food waste and
to help the needy
- "Coastal Clean Up Challenge" organized by Hong Kong
Cleanup to clean up Sok Kwu Wan beach in Lamma Island
- Soap recycling workshop to recycle slightly used soaps
and other sanitation amenities collected from the
hospitality industry to improve health for the disadvantaged
communities across Asia
- Clothes Drive to collect clothing items from staff of
Hong Kong office for donation to The Salvation Army
- Other activities include blood donation, charity food
sales, country side cleanup, gift donation to the elderly
and the underprivileged, Hong Kong Wetland Park guided tour
for children and the intellectual disabilities, English
tutoring lessons for the youth, etc.
